Manual Therapy

Physical manipulation performed by a licensed therapist to treat muscle and joint pain and disabilities. (I may incorporate some of the following techniques in a manual therapy session).

Craniosacral Therapy

Gentle manual therapy technique that works with the body instead of forcefully imposing change upon it. This gentle hands-on approach releases tensions deep in the body to relieve pain and dysfunction.

Visceral Manipulation

Gentle manual therapy that focuses on adhesions and pulls from inside the body that may be causing pain internally or out to muscles and joints. Example: You had a laparoscopy and since then you have this pain in your side. You may have adhesions. This technique may lessen that pain. Or, if you have frequent constipation, it may be time to work on your colon (and you can learn things to do for yourself).

Neural Manipulation

Gentle manual therapy to the nerves. A nerve only functions correctly when it can move freely within the muscles and bones. Example: If you have numbness and tingling in your little finger and ring finger, there could there be pressure on your ulnar nerve.

Lymph Drainage

Gentle manual therapy that encourages the natural drainage of the lymph (a fluid that is thru out your body) to stimulate the functioning of the immune and parasympathetic nervous system.

Ergonomics and Posture

You have had the ergonomic team assess your work site but you still have these tight muscles in your neck, shoulders and back, not to mention that your fingers are occasionally numb and tingly. There may be some things that you can’t change but together let’s assess the things that you can change. Do we get rid of all the pain? Maybe not, but can we reduce the pain? Probably.

Trigger Points

Yes that one in the top of your shoulder and mid back just under your shoulder blade. It feels like a knot and that is what it is. It sends pain to other parts of your body (referred pain). The masseuse can get them out but then they come back. You need to know how to manage them yourself.

Myofascial Release

Soft tissue therapy for the treatment of skeletal muscle immobility and pain.
